Pakistan to seek international help as DNA tests come back negative


DNA tests on four terrorists who were killed during the May 22 attack on PNS Mehran have come back negative.

Results of DNA samples collected from the four terrorists who were killed during the raid on the naval base in Karachi, was matched up against a national database. However, authorities were unsuccessful in establishing the identity of the terrorists.

Police have received the DNA report of four terrorists killed during the attack on PNS Mehran, Geo News reported. The samples from the four terrorists do not match the DNA databank in Pakistan. 

According to police officials, the DNA samples of the four terrorists were sent to Islamabad for testing. The officials added that these samples did not match the DNA databank in Pakistan.

Kashmir dispute is recognized by the United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 91 of 21 April 1948 which gave the right of self-determination to the people of Kashmir to decide whether Kashmir should become part of India or Pakistan. Subsequently India failed all efforts of the UN and Pakistan for holding the plebiscite. As a consequence three wars have also been fought between India and Pakistan.

Al Qaeda names Ayman al-Zawahiri as new leader

A month and a half after the death of Osama bin Laden, the terrorist organization he founded has finally found a new leader: Al Qaeda announced on Thursday that it has selected Ayman al-Zawahiri to lead the Islamist terror network. The news was released via a statement on a jihadist website and news organizations are now scrambling to gather information on the new leader; already, some observers are wondering what took them so long.

PCB allows Afridi to play for Hampshire

Former ODI captain Shahid Afridi will finally join Hampshire next week after successful talks with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday in Islamabad.

Following an hour long meeting between Afridi and PCB chief Ijaz Butt, PCB granted the player his ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC).

Pakistan arrests CIA's bin Laden informants

Pakistan's top military spy agency has arrested five CIA informants who fed information to the U.S. spy agency before the raid last month which killed Osama bin Laden, The New York Times reported on Wednesday.

One of the detainees was reported to be a Pakistani Army major whom officials said copied license plates of cars visiting the al Qaeda leader's compound 30 miles northwest of Islamabad.

Pakistan removes Rangers chief over park killing

Pakistan's military removed the chief of the paramilitary Rangers on Tuesday over the filmed killing of an unarmed man in a public park that shocked the nation.

Security forces shot dead Sarfaraz Shah, 22, in a Karachi park on Wednesday last week over the robbery accusations. His family has demanded justice, insisting he was an innocent student.

Thomas R Nides, US Deputy Secretary of State for Resources and Management, on Monday said nothing ‘truly’ important could happen without Pakistan’s efforts. 

Nides’ statement comes on the heels of visits by Senator John Kerry, Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Ambassador Marc Grossman, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen. All these visits are part of concentrated efforts being made by Pakistan and the United States to put their shaky relationship back on track, with Washington saying on Monday that the relationship was ‘critically important’ and was now heading in the ‘right direction.’

Pakistani hostages released by Somali pirates



The Pakistani hostages under captivity of Somali pirates were released on Monday after persistent negotiations that lasted for months.

The captives were released after ransom money of $2.1 million was paid to the pirates.
